50 years Security Essen

The first security trade fair took place in Essen already back in 1974 – then still under the name “Safety“ – with approximately 105 exhibitors. For several years, the security Essen was organized in turn by Messe Essen and Koninklijke Nederlandse Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Even when the exhibition no longer took place in Utrecht (always in uneven years), Essen continued the two-year intervals in even years. The trade fair quickly established itself as an information platform for the industry and expanded its position. Already in 1988, nearly 21,000 visitors came to Messe Essen to gather information from 412 exhibitors. For many years, the advisory committee of the security essen was the only committee in the Federal Republic of Germany in which nearly all security-related associations, institutions and private companies cooperated hand in hand. Also today the advisory committee is activ - the last meeting took place on the 18th of June 2024.

The European Security Systems Association (ESSA) has been an exhibitor at the security essen since 2010 and, as an association, represents the "physical security" sector, which is a major topic at the trade fair. In 2013, the partnership was further intensified with the signing of a contract - in 2023 the cooperation was further extended with a renewed contract. The common aim is to promote national and international awareness of the security essen, with Europe as a regional focus, and to expand and develop the scope of physical security even further.

This year the security Essen celebrates its 50th anniversary. The fair takes place from the 17th to the 20th of September 2024. ESSA and several ESSA members are showing their newest developments in hall 6.
